Gas Tank Hold-Down/In strap
Folks, it is worth pulling the tank out to service your car. Lot's of issues to tend to all at once as seen here with my 928.
What it looked like when removed.
After Plastic Media Blasting it, notice the galvanized steel this is made of, and, the majority of the galvanized additive remains attached to the metal. It's always a compromise. Rust needs to go away, galvanizing needs to stay, gentle media is called for - not your Vato sandblaster out there as they likely won't care to retain any galvanizing on this item.
To counter the compromised areas where the Galvanizing failed and was overcome with rust - and all blasted clean is a high-quality Epoxy primer which you see here.
A very uniquely shaped fuel tank for sure!
And this is the reason I got this car so cheaply -- a bubba mechanic didn't analyze all systems!
Sure looks like an original OEM hose!
Strap in final black paint.
Strap and all other items cleaned, painted and in storage until re-assembly!
