Congratulations on the purchase!, I told Steve that I would buy it after I won the lottery.
I know he loved this car, I haven't talked to him yet, but I think a Paul Harvey commentary is due soon.
I have personally seen this car 5 Times in as many States, once in my driveway.
This is a one of 928!
OTR18WHEELER, You've seen this car 5 times in 5 states! Thats what I love about this beauty, It was driven as intended and maintained at a high level. I'm sooooo glad that you did not win the lottery, and darn honored that Steve sold it to me!
This thing is a testament to what a well maintained 928 is like: "Tight and solid as a rock after 145,000 miles".
I remember reading in Road & Track a long time ago that:
"The 928 is a car that you could drive straight through hell and come out the other side wondering if it was warm in there..."
Wow!
Pardon my ignorance, but is the Widebody option more of an overall body treatment than that of the GTS' rear fenders/stance?
Any idea what that option cost? It must have been up there.
JPTL, It is the same as a GTS body. A few years early... (EDIT: The XX8 quarters are slightly different shape than the GTS. Also the gas door is different.)
Here's a shot from the left rear quarter.

Reason: Checked shape against my own 1994 GTS...
Thanks for posting this option list, a complete translation from German to English will be fun to read, and a welcome addition to many of our archives. I'll ask Fredrick S. (who speaks German and is in contact with many Porsche corporate individuals) to type it up for us. ;-)
"The catalog says it includes 43mm wide rear spacers. Are they still on the car?"
Yes, this car is pretty unmolested... The 43mm spacers are still on the car.
"The 928 is a car that you could drive straight through hell and come out the other side wondering if it was warm in there..."
Does the "increased air conditioning" have anything to do with this? I haven't heard of increased A/C options on P-Cars. Wonder what that is all about? The wide body looks great!
It's the most expensive option in the 1991 Exclusive catalog.
The exchange rate in January 1991 was 1.490 DM to the dollar, so 13650 DM would have been $9100.
The catalog says it includes 43 mm wide rear spacers. Are there spacers on the car?
Note what it says there in German "plus TÜV Einzelabnahme." That step would obviously not have been needed in the US. But the way it is worded I can't tell, if it means that the step was included in the price or if it would have been added on top of the DM 13.650.
