"S-JX 5390" is a 1988 Club-Sport, not a GT. It's one of the two press cars.

Here is it into the Karrussel, one of the most famous turns of the Nürburgring.

The car of the Auto Bild test was a stock GT driven by Günther Steckköning.

Samuel

"S-" stands for Stuttgart, so it's very possible that it's a company car.

Samuel and Anders,
Thanks for the info on this vehicle (i.e., SJX 5390 license plate). I like that 2nd photo you posted from the Auto Bild magazine test. Curious why, if this is a stock CS, that there was no passenger side (outside) mirror? I presume the deletion of the mirror was to save weight. Or, rather, was this an option on eurospec models?

Samuel...can you post a link to the Auto Bild test or is that from your personal collection?

I must say that the car looks like it is handling itself well in the Karrussel turn...

Best,
TUK

In fact, they were two 928 CS for the press tests in Germany.

They were chassis number 5061 and 5064. The two were red and with no side mirror on the passenger side.
I have also found two registrations inot the magzines and assume that 5061 is BB-PW 180 and 5064 is S-JX 5390.
I assume this because BB is the registration for Weissach and S is for Stuttgart.

I have seen three others 1988 cars (5065, 5068 and 5070) and those have a right side mirror.

To remove the right side mirror saves 2 kilos.

For the 1989 model year, 7 cars were made, I have seen two of them, mine and the last build (destroyed now...). The two have a passenger mirror.

I advise tou to have a look here. Many articles are in english.

I don't have the original Bild magazine but this was quoted into a French magazine that I have with no pictures at all.

The shown pictures were found on Internet and I would really like to know which magazine they are from....

Regards,
Samuel
PS: Please apologize for the faults into my messages, I try to improve but as a good French, I'm bot really fluent in any foreign language

Removing the mirror also redusces a lot of drag. And there really isn't any use of the outer mirror in "Flag"-version at higher speeds since they tend to vibrate.

At least here in Sweden it's only mandatory to have a mirror on the left side.

Can't find it from archives but think there is mention somewhere that 1980 Euro S did 8:50 or 9:00 (driven by works drivers) at the time when it first introduced to the press. And it was 0:10 faster than same vintage 911 SC.
