Cool

Good news with the Sigla installation,… The antenna amplifier works fine now that I have the connector from the windshield. (The aftermarket powered antenna has left the building and mounting position toward the top of the windshield.) The black mask area on the Sigla covers appropriate dash, pillars, and liner areas. (I looked at a 1982 Weissach 928 today, and the windshield is Sigla.) I found other glass on mine to be Sekurit. The local Porsche dealer did not know what brand Porsche calls OEM now for my 928 until it arrived. For any Porsche, I conclude that Sigla or Sekurit are OEM. I could be wrong. But, I doubt it. So, ask for those brands to help the glass company avoid going through the Porsche dealership,… I guess. The installer did need to bend the vertical molding attachment fins a little to get the glass in place. This seems like a special installation procedure requirement. After 8 years with already old glass, the view is great.

I have lived with the old windshield for a long time. State Farm threatened to cancel my home owner’s insurance because I claimed 2 theft losses that totaled less than $700 over 3 years. I called other insurance agencies to find that insurance companies share claim information with the insurance network. You know how they guarantee your privacy in those statements that they send you,… there is nothing at all private about any insurance claim you have ever made. I finally contacted my local agent after other carriers said they would charge a huge fee to carry my insurance because they were looking at 2 claims over a 3 year period. I did not tell them about my claims. The claims are public to the insurance world. My agent said that he sometimes felt that the guys that tried to cancel me were working against him. I don’t recall what those investigators are called. It seems outrageous that they would try to cancel me without my agent’s knowledge, behind his back, because of what they considered questionable theft claims,… that were very real and legitimate to me.

When the Boxster windshield took a big hit, I asked my agent if several comprehensive claims would cause cancellation. She said that windshield claims are legitimate. People don’t fake those. So, I am happy now (I hope) to have the new 928 windshield.

So true. That Sekurit black perimeter does cover the interior. Details, details.
We're having fun.
