Pre-'85 wanted.
Hi-
First off, I would like to apologize if this is the incorrect area to post this thread.
I am looking for a pre-1985 928S or 928 in or around Virginia.
So far the requirements are either a White or Black exterior and an all Tan or Black & Tan interior. I would also like it to be an Automatic.
If possible, my preference is an all original car with no known problems.
If anyone knows of such a car please let me know, as I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Carson

I prefer the earlier 16V cars - that is the only reason.
Thanks,

There are many reasons to have the pre 85s, with a special eye for the 83-84s.
Mind you I'm a bit biased, but...
I find the EFI to be a bit more reliable, and actualy adjustable. As far as I know, there is very little history of failing L-jet brains, and thats typicaly because of mishapps. You can fairly easily set the idle, mixture, and timeing, just like you could on an old carberated car. Maybe you'll have trouble after modifiction, and need an AFU, but I wouldn't think so. No need to buy a chip set, (Not that it's even possible.) it's rather simple to reset the AFM, and add some timeing advance. Bad for cats, but easy to do.
Unless they're modifyed, the US engines seem to be non-interference. I can personaly vouch for that. You jump the belt, a new belt and maybe water pump and your good to go.
The 928s and 928 w/ the Compotision package have more brakes than you'd ever use on the street, and maybe enough for work on a track, if you use a good pad. I don't track my car, so I don't know.
Modifications don't seem to be too hard. The stock US exaust can use some work, and our cast iron headers could use some inprovements. The TB and intake switch is suppost to be good for just as much hp. Euro S cams can make a diffrence. I think we'ed see an improvement from US 78-79 cams too, they should be more readly avalibe for many of us folks in the US. Add it all up and we might get to 300 hp out of our 4.7l engines in our lighter cars.
The 9.3:1 compression ratio means we can get away with regular gasoline. Actualy, it means we should use regular fuel for maximum horsepower.
All in all, the L-jet cars arn't bad. Even if they seem to be lacking in hp at first...
