His driving reviews are admittedly lame cause he never pushes the cars at all. But there are a million and one videos that go over driving impressions. I like his videos because I don't like boring cars with boring standardized features. DeMuro's videos are the only ones I have come across that go into depth on all the little odd and ends you would never know about unless you owned the car. I think that stuff is cool. For example he reviewed a Lamborghini Diablo and pointed out that the headlights were straight from the Nissan 300ZX. At the top of the headlight is a small half inch carbon fiber strip. Why is it there? It's only purpose is to cover the Nissan logo etched into the top of the headlight. Who cares? Well I guess if all you are into is engine/chassis stuff then you wouldn't. But I really enjoy the little minutiae like that. As long as his videos keep highlighting that kinda of stuff, I'll be watching at least.

Inevitably a video with so many eyes on it creates social proof and a consensus around his views. This is why it's so relevant, it'll most definitely affect values. Good for GTS models, bad for pre S4's(which he calls fugly).

It's all simply subjective.

My approval meter spiked up for an instant when he said the auto was the better transmission (Well...he needs both hands to turn the steering wheel).

We all hold our cars on a pedistal. I think my car is the best car in the world, and I think it is timeless and perfect. And I get pissed off when people point out a few flaws.
Insult the review, not the reviewer. If I paid attention in College I could tell you what Logical fallacy that is.

Having broken down and watched it, can I ask if anyone here, the first time they ever inspected a 928, thought the rear sunvisors were supposed to be drawn down in front of your head? I mean, seriously. In charge of sales, that makes sense. Certainly nothing technical.
Also, would he have preferred the odometer zero button to be a humongous dead switch, since it's there in place of the rear fog light switch that cars in the US don't get?
I love snark. But you have to know what you're talking about to do it well.

I owned and loved my two different 928's for 17 or 18 years. An 89 GT and a 93 GTS, both 5 speeds. From my avatar you can see what I moved on to. Well I recently got the opportunity to drive a pristine 94 GTS to a local PCA event where they were honoring the 928. Now it had been almost 5 years since I had driven a 928; well guess what; I found the steering and the gas pedal to be very heavy, but after 5 minutes it was normal. Also when on the highway, at highway speed the steering was very reassuring, not heavy. Exactly as he described in the video. My 2015 911TTS blows the 928 in every category, but that's a VERY unfair comparison. I agree he should have compared it to another car of the same vintage. If he had done that, the 928 would have come way way ahead. No Corvette, BMW, 911, 968 or maybe even Ferrari would hold a candle to the 928 if both were 22 years old. The cool factor for the 928 is off the charts. I still think it's one of the best looking cars of all times. All the styling quirks are what attracted me to the 928 to begin with. Of course I disagree about the Roger Box being the preferred transmission. With the 5 speed the car doesn't feel heavy at all.

I think Doug's reviews are different. If I wanted to hear 10 minutes of all of the technical details of the 928, I'll go somewhere else. His reviews of what HE finds interesting or quirky about the car is what adds some character to his reviews.

The automatic 928's do feel about 1,000lbs heavier than the manuals(at least!). Part of the reason could be that it was borrowed from Mercedes, and those older mercs also feel heavier than their actual weight. Anyone here ever drive a 1990 911 C4 with the tiptronic? Now that car feels double its weight! Transmissions make a huge impression on a car's character
