I disagree wholeheartedly about Jalopnik. I find some of their regular contributors to be insightful and entertaining. David Tracy's exploration of Jeep Life is great stuff, Torchinsky's videos about driving weird cars are pretty good, and I absolutely love Tovarich's exploration of maintaining well-used high-dollar supercars on a Ford Mustang budget. They also cover the industry pretty well and governmental transportation-related matters well.

I don't read everything on Jalopnik. I don't care for their racing coverage, and their fascination with drifting is confounding, but overall it's a great site for a motorhead.

But, yeah, DeMuro didn't do a good job. For reviews like this: Give me Mr. Regular.

IMO, everything he said was true, including the incredibly heavy steering. As we know, that heavy steering becomes an asset at highway speeds, and especially at the track at 150 mph. Despite that, what he said is correct - it is a very heavy feeling car to muscle around town.

What is it exactly, those who are complaining, do you think he is misrepresenting about the 928?

It's the fake car guy act. It just grates on me personally, and some posts he has made are just wrong. This sort of stuff is subjective.

I've never heard a conflicting story. Everything I've read - everything - says that Porsche intended to phase out the 911 (which was aging badly, used a layout from a bare-bones, cheap-to-build economy car designed 30 years prior, and was unsuited to American super highways) in favor of the 928 in the early to mid-80s. That would have made the 911 a 20 year old car.

Frankly, they should have.

Jalopnik? Sister pubs on that site, sure; but I've never caught a whiff of SJW from Jalopnik. Of course, I'm from the Northeast, we're not as emotionally sensitive as you Texians.

The 928 is unique in and of itself. To compare it to anything other than another contemporary Grand Tourer is ridiculous.

I could and would guarantee that if DeMuro, was in my presence, and I had on a HAMC t-shirt, or my patch, he'd be on all fours wearing a collar, with a leash, and barking like a dog, and if I stopped walking, he'd be licking his nuts! This guy is a full blown punk!

Rant over, I apologize if I've offended anyone on this forum!
I can count on one hand how many articles or videos about the 928 HAVEN;T mentioned the 911 replacement angle. It's been 22 years since the last 928 was built, there''s precious little new information to be had.

And regarding leash and barking peccadilloes, perhaps that should be discussed in a private,, non-family oriented forum...

Most people liked Two and a Half Men (popular, broad, cliche, doesn't make you think), and a much smaller group liked Community (clever, reference based, complex story lines).

Like Doug, I think you're a Two and Half Men-er.

+1 on Regular Car Reviews for the 928. Like the car, that HST tribute is exactly the right for those who grew up on Rolling Stone and National Lampoon and enjoy a little confirmation bias.

The Doug review is fair by his stated standards except he's way off on coolness and style. That is why we have these beasts and why a modern car can't touch them.

No the least bit surprised you would miss it as you'd agree with most of the points they were trying to make. Once some of the sister publications were being shut down/downsized et al and the election was going on, they were preaching about everything from Trump to smoking on an airplane to the proper way to take it in the ****. I read JP for entertainment, not political commentary. Football lost a lot of peeps due to the same crap.
