Coach,
Are you 100% sure it's coming from the front of the car? Can you duplicate the noise without driving the car (ie. can you press down on the suspension and make the "crunchy" sound?)

Yes. It's front the front right of the car. I cannot duplicate the noise just by pushing down on the car while it is stationary. I thought it might be a bad shock , but while the shock was out I moved it [slowly] through its full displacement and it seems to work fine. I checked outer tie rod, but I haven't checked inner tie rod yet. That's next on my list.

Could bad wheel bearings make a "crunchy" noise only when going over speed bumps?

I wouldn't think so.

Could this be causing a noise? Is there anything to do to lubricate this rubber? As far as I can tell, the rubber is not replaceable without replacing the entire lower control arm.
I've been told that the "crunchy" noise that I hear is in fact a "bad rubber" noise. I'm about 90% certain that it is caused by the lower control arm. I understand that the lower control arm should not have a large swing and if the bolts are tightened while the car is in the air or before the car has had a chance to settle, then it may be putting undue stress on the rubber bearings. I reseated the bolts per the WSM, but the noise is still there. I'll probably get a reburbished lower control arm. Before I do, is there a proper inspection of the rubber bearings to know when a new control arm is necessary?
