Ignition Problem!

Ignition Problem!
My 86' 928s has been having ignition problems lately, and im trying to figure out what it is/ if I can fix it myself (I have very minimal mechanical skills).
At times, when I turn the key there is a delay or even a complete lack of a start up. Pumping the gas pedal while cranking usually helps with starting the car.. sometimes it doesnt. Most commonly, when there is a delayed ignition, the cylinders are not all firing initially. However, at other times, the vehicle starts up completely normal without any issues, and without the pumping the gas pedal.
The delay is much less common when I start the vehicle in the neutral gear.
Any ideas of what the issue could be? Im leaning towards a bad spark plug or fuse issue.

From the general description sounds like over Fueling and pumping the Peddle on a Fuel injected car does absolutely nothing!
However holding the peddle to the floor will allow more fresh air in if it is indeed over fueling/flooded
Is this issue on a Cold engine start up or Hot or both?
When was the last time you had a complete tune-up by someone who knows 928's?
There are a number of parts that you can trow on it, but at this point testing is required.
Do you have any tools and test equipment like a DVM, vacuum gauge/tester?
Have you checked and cleaned the Fuses, a poor connection on the Fuel Pump fuse can cause hard starts too.
And welcome to the Forum, how long have you owned the 928 and a short intro / history of the car would be helpful

When you say "ignition problems" what exactly do you mean?
Your description sounds more like starting problems.
And those sound more fuel related than ignition related.
And when you say that it starts better in neutral, is it an auto or a 5 speed?
And yes, welcome.
Post a bit of the story about the car and pics.
