newbie 924S owner
Hi!
I am about 1 week into owning my Guards Red on black 924s. Its bone stock down to the teledials, sunroof, AC, power windows, hatch, the usual stuff. I am going to be looking for help on some details... I come from the air cooled 4 cylinder world... the S sits in the garage next to my 76 912E, AKA, "the Rat".

love it
just put in a MAX HP chip, and after doing some repairs this summer, feel really good about it performance and reliability wise.

I have four '87 924S', all guards red. Two are autos and the other two are manuals. One of them is my
first Porsche with 76k miles on it which is one of the autos. The other other auto needs transmission dampener. I drive the two manuals as my daily alternate from my '89 944 turbo.I also sold an '88
924S to a friend. Some or most people doesn't realize how special the 924S are as they are the lighter
version of the 944 if you come to think about it.They were quicker the the 944 of the same year. Their
handling is a vacation from my 944 turbo, so light and toasable.

I just bought my Guards Red 87 924s in december and its pretty stock. I've already rebuild the brakes with metal masters, rebuilt calipers, SS brake lines and ATE type 200 brake fluid. Next on my list is Konis all around with new A-arms, Ball Joints, Bushings, Swaybar brace, and a 18mm rear sway. It was a california car and i got the original window sticker with the manual and its a sweet car.. im guessing 160+k on the car but its strong. The PO said he put a Web Cam in it and did the autothority chip (it goes past the red line on the tach, i call it Takumi style lol)
Its a fun car but i've only just barely scratched the surface of what it can do Anyone got a rear sway they want to sell?

If you're going to add a rear sway, I'd suggest upgrading the front bar as well. The factory size is something like 17mm, which is ok when there's no rear bar, but really not great when you start adding. On my car, I added Koni yellows all around and 951S sway bars (25mm up front and 18 in the rear I believe), and the combination handles very well. 951S bars are only slightly smaller than 968 m030 bars (the creme de la creme of Porsche factory bars) but much cheaper so if you can find a set, grab 'em!

Hi. Just joined Rennlist and am learning how little I've learned!
Bought an Guards Red 88 924S in 2006. It had 89k km at the time, 149k km now. Car is stock but still a lot of fun on the Porsche club DE's at Mosport. Get to spank the big boys through the corners and wave goodbye as they roar past me on the straights.
Starting to think about an 89 944 Turbo for the additional oomph but still really enjoy my car. Might pass it on to my son.
