Default Rice or Not

Started to clean a spare cam cover, before polishing, when my father in law suggested painting. Attached is a picture of the painted cover. Does this look too rice and would polished look better.

It doesn't look rice! But i prefer polished or painted a darker color...red is just too loud for my tastes...

I'd have to agree with Erich on this one, the red is a bit much. Did you paint the cap too? But I don' think it looks too much like rice...it's not yellow.

Thanks for the input. Think I agree with you about the red. Not sure about polishing as it would look out of place compared to the rest of the head. May try dark blue or black. Now what do I do with the intake tube from the turbo??

An idea for the pressure pipe:

I like a well-painted valve cover, but don't like the painted cap. Darker colors would probably look pretty cool.

OK it's a dark blue cam cover, polished cap and neon "BLING" for the intake tube. Actually the bling might clash with my neon undercar lights license plate frame and valvestems.

Erich,

That would take me FOREVER to polish that by hand. Notice that the black matches the car exterior. That's why I painted mine red but I do like the black better. Guess I could paint the cam cover black and polish the intake tube. Saw a spare over at Bob Dodds yesterday. May have to visit him saturday. Sorry Jon. Guess the neon is out. LOL

OK, now they are black. Couldn't get the filler cap to polish up right so it is painted black also. Jon, now you can do your BLING thing to it but I still haven't gotten the neon wheel spinners yet. LOL

Rice is in the bowl of the beholder. It is YOUR car and YOURS is the only opinion that counts.

I agree with that a little, but every once in a while you need to do a reality check with other people to confirm if its rice or not. It reminds me of the expression that there is no such thing as a dumb question...Whenever you are in doubt, double, and sometimes triple check to confirm if something is or is not rice

Later!

Thanks for the input. BTW I now realize why I haven't seen a 924 intake polished. Instead of a sandcast mold they must have used gravel. Burnt up my Black and Decker orbital trying to smooth it out. Next time I'll try the air sander.

Black is beautiful, but maybe more of a dull finish would look better.
