How did you get the engine out if the hoist was holding the car up? Was there room to take it out the side

We turned the hoist (it's on wheels) to the side, enough to wheel the engine out (it was on a wood crate-like device with wheels). Wheels made all the difference!

Well, for a few reasons. 1) I have 968 front brakes I need to install. 2) I need to replace the top strut plates as a few months ago I stripped a few bolts on them and they need replacement. And 3) I'm going to get a 968 or better sway bar.

Good luck guys, I've got mine out and hope to work on it next week. I have been taking my time, my goal it to have it going by Christmas. I took mine out in pieces, did not intend to pull the whole engine but when I found metal then I had to. I think I will put it back in doing the short block first then putting the rest on with the block in the car.
I have a couple of friends that said they could lift the short block into place while I put in the torgue tube bolts and get a jack in place. Not sure I will go that route, probably be safer to get a lift.

Charlie, that sounds fun. I wasn't going to tear this engine down, but good luck with yours!

I updated my website: www.944s3.com

Have fun!

Way to go guys, looks good.
I bolted a piece of really thick chain to the crossmember mounting points and lifted with the hoist.
