Vented Nose Panel

Vented Nose Panel
Big thanks to my father in law for laying it out and Red1 for cutting it. Seemed like a fair trade since his truck was giving me fits!
What did you guys do with the brackets behind there? Off to the paint and body shop next week, remove crest holes and soften the edges, paint the piece

Pictures dont really do justice, this piece looks very good in person. Brian (red1) did a great job, my hands arent that steady!

The plan is to remove the stock venting (black plastic) and replace with aluminum duct work. Brian does the offer for the aluminum still stand? Speedforce used to do this but they no longer modify the nose panels (though I think they still sell the venting).

Go - thanks, my father in law really did a geat job drawing it and I cant believe how even Brian cut it.
MikeB - He used a dremel and since he told me to post the pics I am sure he will respond later (he was loading a ship when he called) He can tell you what bits etc,
JP - It needs to go to the body shop first. I need to have the crest filled and the edges cleaned up a bit then have it painted.

As has been discovered there is a panel inside that blocks the area off from the lower radiator intake. It's there because the structure around the top of the 944 radiators is totally different than that of the early 924's and 931's. With the intercooler on the 951's in that area me thinks the holes would screw up the air flow or Porsche would have put them in.

SoCal - there is a lot of conjecture on this subject. None of it has been proven. I have seen actual temp drops from this mod according to a few listers and racers I know. I appreciate the thoughts and conjecture of scientific fact. Actually the bracket inside is there to bolt it to the support and for no other reason as far as I can tell. Whatever the case it looks good and with the ducting it should be just fine. You would need a 968TRS style scoop to extract air from under the hood but personally I hate the way that looks.

I just used a cutting wheel on the dremel, then rounded out the ends with a carbide bit. They honestly do look better in person than the pics, but everybody gets the idea.
Matt's father-in-law drew out the perfect pattern on masking tape, so I just had to be sure not to screw it up. That's masking tape glue residue under the driver's side slot.
Matt, let me check my warehouse tomorrow for some sheet aluminum. You won't need much. There's gotta be something out there that'll work. Speaking of work, I knocked both of those ships out quick. Got home about 8. Gotta love 'em quick and easy. Doesn't happen often enough.
However truly functional they'll be, I guess we'll find out. I think they look cool. JMO.

Glad to see you got home, I was beginning to wonder. Its a shame I cant post higher quality pics. Damn thing only allows them to be so big.
