hey matt, if you don't need the little plastic or metal holders that hold the crest in place, i could definitely use them. let me know if you can send them to me.

thanks,
-Michael- loose crests suck!

I dont need them, if I can figure out how they are held in they are yours. The crest (brand new) will see time on a 944 spec car.

I think you can push those out from the underside.

I let George know I've got the crest for him.

I will give that a try. Thanks. Did you see that the hose you were looking at can be removed?

Is there any way you can roll the edges over so they aren't sharp? I have no idea how it's done, but there must be some tool.

Use can use a rat tail file to soften them. Once de-burred they wont be that sharp. Then again who sticks their hands in there??? I guess when washing that could be a concern.

I looked into that (rolled edge), but I think the vent holes have to be pressed out to get a rolled edge. If I'm wrong, please someone tell me how to do it. That's the only reason I haven't vented my panel yet.

I think if the edges are properly filed, it shouldn't be much of an issue. Now don't get me talking about Matt walking over and sticking his fingers in the slots before I had a chance to deburr them.

I PERSONALLY think that you should leave the hood crest on. it makes the car IMHO.

I told him to buy one of the new ones in silver, but he won't listen to me.

So you're going with no crest? I know we'd all like to drop some weight, but come on!

Looks lik it should turn out pretty good.

i know iv seen that vented style panel, and the owner put black (paintable I'm sure) plastic linning sort of deal, it looks good. Are you gonna get some nice mesh in there, and paint the mesh black or white. I think that would look better, and help protect your intercooler from posible damage from the stray rock that came of the truck in front of you.

The hood crest was poorly installed and off a 996, it looked awful. The gold on white to me just looked terrible. The silver ones are available but I am not going to spend 80 dollars on a hood crest. Someone photoshopped one without and other here are running without, looks just fine.

I have NO plans to put "mesh" behind it. If it gets damaged what better time to upgrade? See pics at www.speedforceracing.com for what it will look like with the ducting behind it.

And;

I have seen actual temp drops from this mod according to a few listers and racers I know.
Which is it? Conjecture or proof? Where did they place the temp sensors? How did they record the data? Or was this just a WAG based on the nebulous dash temp gauge?

I appreciate the thoughts and conjecture of scientific fact.
Conjecture a fact?

Actually the bracket inside is there to bolt it to the support and for no other reason as far as I can tell.
Wasn't talking about the bracket. Was refering to the large plastic baffel that blocks off this area from the radiator.

Whatever the case it looks good and with the ducting it should be just fine. You would need a 968TRS style scoop to extract air from under the hood but personally I hate the way that looks.
So this is realy an emotional thing. Nothing to do with "scientific fact". Could just have said this first.

$80 is outrageous, I just enjoy bustin' Matt's ***** a little.

This car is really in pretty nice shape. A little TLC, and Matt's going to have a sweet ride.
