Default E brake cable part

I am stumped. I have a part that resides inside the brake drum section of the rear rotor on my early 944. I think that there were/are two of them. I can't find a pic of it in the PET under the early cars, but there is a pic of a similar, but not same, exact part in the 85 and later cars.

Description: It is a single stamped steel part with a narrow arched bridge that ends with notched end plates. It fits on the aluminum rear caliper carrier. On this carrier, there are two raised little nubs that the notched ends of this "bridge" piece fits into. I have one of the arched pieces, but not the other one. Both caliper carriers have a spot for them. They fit near and above where the e-brake cable comes into the rear rotor area and secures it to the carrier.

If someone can refer me to a correct pic in the PET or help me out with a part #, I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.

Your description isn't clear for me.

The only thing that I can think of is the "expanding bow" as it's called in the PET for the 924S. Part no 20 in the diagram. It fits into notches on the brake shoes and the cable pulls on it to make it expand. It is actually in 2 pieces, one within the other, with a pin that acts as a pivot.

Sounds like he is referring to #23, it prevents the expanding bow from digging into the soft aluminium

On the later cars, part # 23 is the correct part. However, my part does not even closely resemble the part in the later PET which you show. It is not the expanding bow. #23 when looked up in the Pelican parts catalog, does resemble part #23. But this is not the part I'm referring to. I'll see if I can post a pic to this message, but I'm really not very good at it..and have had previous failures. SoooI'll try to post to it again..Thanks..

I thought maybe the diagram for the 924S that I posted was the same as the early 944s (many 924S parts are) but I see that it is the same as the later 944s.
Looking at Auto Atlanta, where they have all the PETs online, you're right that part is not shown. Mystery...

I had my E-brakes apart today, the early cars don't have anything like that. Unless I'm missing it on my car too. The shoes bottom out against a part that seems to be cast into the steel trailing arm.

Amazing. Good to know. Perhaps this is a VW part that wandered into this arrangement somehow? Just showed up when I opened it up..Only on one side though...still stumped..
