question re. crankshaft drive gear
Hi all - the crankshaft drive gear for the balance shaft belt (944-102-209-12-OEM) and the crankshaft gear (944-105-125-07-OEM) - do these have the same inner diameter? My crankshaft gear is very snug as you'd expect but the crankshaft drive gear for the balance shaft belt has play when it's on the crankshaft. This is on a S2. Thanks

thanks for the response - part of the woodruff key was sheared off and the I think damaged the I.D. of the gear driving the balance shaft belt causing this play. Time for a replacement..

question re. crankshaft drive gear
Another thing I noticed after getting the new crankshaft gear, it has 8 bolt holes instead of the original 4 (for attaching the alternator belt pulley) I can't seem to find the torque spec for the bolts - and does anyone use 8?

the 8-hole gear i've only ever seen on S2 and 968, why i dont know.
on those cars they use all 8 holes...since they are M6 screws they probably only get 6 lbft or so.
i dont have a torque wrench accurate that low so i just go "wrist tight" for those.
