Default New water pump. Pre 1985 N/A 944

I have been shopping for a new water pump, belts rollers etc...
I want to replace everything, I have been doing my own research but I'd like some opinions from other 944 owners. What's a good brand for the best cost and what should I know about the updated pumps?
What have other 944 owners done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go with a Turbo pump you'll have more choices of manufacturers but you'll also have to get the block off piece...not a big deal but it does add about $9. You want an updated pump no matter what. We currently only offer one manufacturer on the new NA pump. Good time to do a front engine seal kit too if you have some oil leaks.

Jason do you have an alarm that goes off, whenever someone posts "where to buy XX part?"

Your response time is unmatched...

I like the Continental Contitech kit. The belts and rollers all in one box. I can't comment on water pumps through.

I put what I think was a URO pump on my '86 about 3 years ago and I think the bearings are going bad. Get an odd metallic howling sound after the car has warmed up a little.

I'd go with a Laso or Gerba pump. At least that is what I'll be installing if my current pump turns out to be bad.

And yes, my belt tension is set correctly via the ArnnWorx tension tool...

944online is great, the staff is very knowledgeable and quick shipping...but for that service you will pay 20-50% more for the same parts.

whether that is worth it is up to you.

You might [pay a bit more at Pelican parts, but you'll get a good pump..and probably an option on the original Porsche pump or a good aftermarket one..stay away from URO if possible. A good one should last at least two belt changes..IMHO.

There's generally 3 players in the 944 new water pump world, URO, Geba & Laso. Porsche offers a rebuilt pump that lists at $251.60 plus core. Various companies have rebuilt pumps over the years but the number seems to have dwindled over the last 5 years or so.
