can you fax with cable modem?

Default can you fax with cable modem?

ok...i know this is a long shot but is there anyway I can fax stuff using ethernet?

My printer will do a fax thing but I dont have a phone line...only cable modem....

anyhow, anyone know of a program that can do this?

yep. from Win95 to (gulp) WinME during install you could select MSfax as an option. It was part of MS's "home convenience" push. 1 phone line you could have an answering machine, receive faxes and data exchange in one app.

It worked lousy- but you could create a fax from a scan, and receive faxes/ voice messages and voice calls on a single POTS line.

It was a good idea.

Uhh...Chris, cable modems don't use POTS lines.

Be careful when using one of those services. Some of the "free" ones require you to install adware/spyware. Others will sell you email address or the recipient's fax number to spammers.
Read their TOS and privacy policies.

intellifax is a pay service. You just send an e-mail. No proggie involved, thus no adware and the like.

And I've only recieved two junk spams in 7 months.
