Default WTB - rebuildable power steering rack.

Don't care if its ugly as long as it can be cleaned up and rebuilt. It would have to be shipped to Champlain NY, or Montreal if in Canada.
In an earlier post someone in CA talked about a scrap yard that had a pile of them for $25... almost wish I were there!
For a '87 924S by the way.

I have one I just pulled out of a 87 turbo that had engine issues. It still has the tie rods attached but I could pull them off and stick it in a box.

I was that guy in CA, the place is EASY (European Auto Salvage Yard), their website is: http://www.easypor.com/

They have them and I think they'll ship them.

I have my old PS rack but I haven't installed the "new" de-powered rack yet so I'll be keeping it for a bit just in case I hate the de-powered version. If you stlll need one in a couple months (I'm slow) send me a PM and I'll let you know, but last time I was there EASY had a pile of them. They wanted $35 BTW. Good luck!

I finally took Tiger03447 up on his offer. Suzanne and I made a camping weekend of it, she enjoyed the quirky State Line camping site while back at T's place we removed the steering rack and assorted plumbing. I thought that I would be doing all the work but he did more than his share... a real pleasure to work with him. An adrenaline moment when we discovered that the wasp's nest in the driver's side coil tower, that we thought we had eliminated, was still active. I had set aside 2 days just in case the rack proved stubborn, but a mornings work and everything was out.

Tiger03447 then showed me his projects, first his 1920s Bugatti look alike which is still at the frame building stage, than his 944 which is totally disassembled with all the components rebuilt and refinished, almost ready to go back together. He does really nice work and the 944 is going to be a beautiful car once it is assembled.

Thanks again for the rack and the interesting weekend!
