Default 951 Spring Rates?

What is the spring rate on a stock 951 is it different than a 944 na? Did any of the 944/951 models come with anything close to 250lb springs in the front? Have any of you guys used the KYB strut inserts for the front?
Thanks.

Andre - only the Turbo S came close to that, and it was only 178# IIRC.

I just pulled that setup off my car and I can tell you it is soft.

So would it be worth it to put the 951 springs on my 944 n/a? Will I notice a difference? Andre I wanted to know about any expierences good or bad with the KYB's? They are about a third of the price of bilsteins and I have heard some good things about them.

951 front coils are the same 126 lb/in rate as a 944, so you won't feel a difference. M030 springs (standard on 951S, etc.) have the heaviest street springs at 162 lb/in, which is still nowhere near 250 lb/in. I wouldn't go that stiff up front without stiffer torsion bars in the rear.

944=140lbs
951 (non-s, non-M030)=160lbs

Not really worth the effort to switch, IMHO. Unless your 944 springs are shot and you have a free, good, matched pair of the 951 springs.

Tifo, where did you get that information? It doesn't agree with the shop manuals.

Looks like there were 9 different springs available for the 944S, S2, Turbo, and Turbo S.

Rates varied from 21.8 N/mm (S, Turbo), 23.8 N/mm (S2), and 28 N/mm (Turbo S, M030). Rough conversions are 125, 136, and 160 lb/in.

Not positive, but Im guessing the plain 944 spring rate is the 21.8 N/mm also.
