Default Benefits of Engine Being Lower

The motor mounts on my new-to-me '88 951 are shot and since I plan to use this car for AX and DE, I'd like to upgrade to the Lindsey Ultra Mounts. But what are the benefits to the engine sitting 10mm lower besides the lower COG? I can buy shims from Lindsey for $30 to ensure a stock height, but would prefer to save that money if possible. Is there any downside to the lower engine position?

FYI, I emailed Dave at Lindsey yesterday but haven't received a response.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

I'm fighting to hold back the Captain Obvious references...

Because you are, however, correct.
Obviously.

Thanks, Spencer. So you're saying a street car should use the motor mount shims to keep the motor at the factory level, while a lowered motor might be more appropriate for a track car?

No, not necessarily an issue (I ran my car lowered 1.25" for almost 10 years on the street)...just something to be aware of.

The metal power steering line that runs on the top of the crossmember might be difficult to remove with the lower engine height.
