Default Where to buy chrome Turbo S wheels?

So, I sold my '83 944, and bought a 1988 951. Not an "S", but still pretty dang nice. The car came with phone dials that were re-finished a couple of years ago. The wheels look very good, but I've never been a fan of the phone dials.

My goal is to find somebody with the clubsport wheels from a 944 Turbo "S" that is using them as track/winter wheels. What do you suppose the chances are of trading $$ and my phone dials?

There are plenty of sets out there. I recently bought and re-sold a very very nice set from a local Rennlister. I intended to use them as another set of track wheels, but they were not as light as I'd hoped. They are no doubt storng wheels, but not light.

Market is good, I sold for exactly what I paid. A lot times people will casually mention in a post about stuff they have they "might" sell. I shoot a PM and that's how deals get started.

Are you looking for chromed whls, or to find a standard set to have chromed?

I have a set of 7s and 9s off an 89 Turbo that the previous owner had chromed years ago (I think it was done by R. Wood which was prior to Whl Enhancement). They are not concours condition, but could be touched up if thats what you want (inside should be re-powder coated).

Chrome plating is not a great idea... these are forged wheels with an anodized finish. You can remove the anodizing and then polish the raw alum finish to a nice shiny surface. The problem with chrome plating is all the prep work, copper plate, nickel plating and then chroming. You end up with a wheel that has gone through multiple chemical / electolysis baths before they are shiny chrome and weigh more.

And if the plating prep was not done properly, the chrome will peel and look terrible - just look at all the older chromed MB rims that are trash now.

BTW the factory club sports are not heavy for OEM rims - 7 x16 @ 19 lbs and 9 x 16 @21.5 lbs http://www.wheelweights.net/

They will peel eventually regardless of the quality of the plating, its just a matter of time.

Isn't that about 5 lbs each more than Fuchs? I'd call 1/3 more, 'pretty darn heavy."

Maybe so...BUT the Fuchs wheels are some of the lightest I have ever felt (for stock). Those wheels would be in line with the weight of a set of 17" aftermarket wheels
