Default Focus 9 Technology

The Focus 9 Technology website indicates all their 944 DME's are sold out.

I'd like to know when they think they will be back in stock and if my '89 944 2.7L NA is supported, but I can not get a reply from them through e-mail and they don't post a contact phone number on their website.

Hopefully, they will see this post and reply.

In the mean time, does anyone have any feedback on their DME's?

Thanks,
Severian

I bought one with the fuel pump prime feature for my S2 (since sold) and it worked fine. I had hoped that feature might make the car start a little quicker, but it didn't. There was no noticeable advantage in the way the car started or drove, but it did offer peace of mind as far as reliability of operation.

the prime function does help give you an audible signal that the relay is working...

Bought the pump-prime version over the winter and has worked perfectly. They get new stock periodically, I got lucky that they had some when I ordered mine.

I wouldn't expect any increased starting performance unless your fuel system is struggling already.

Like Spencer said, it does make it easy to tell if its not working!

Ahhh.. DME computers not the relays...

Given the high quality of their Relays, I would suspect the work they do with the DME's themselves would be just as high quality. Plus be much, much more reliable given the improvements in digital technology over the years.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I needed it. I have considered getting one just to feel better about having it in the car as opposed to the 31 year old DME.

If I remember correctly, sales of the previous batch help fund the next batch. He's not a super high volume shop and has done just about everything out of pocket.

I purchased both the relay and computer recently. The computer ended up fixing my non starting issue. Excellent products and support.

IIRC he was the guy making and programming DME's for Rouge. As for the relay, I have a fuel pump prime one as well. Like noted, no difference in starting. But nice to know it's working!

I got one of the relays in his 2nd or 3rd batch. Been keeping an eye out for anyone that is having issues, or any failed ones, but so far I've not heard a single negative word about them, or his DME's.

I'm not really sure who the guy is exactly, but he does seem to have been doing stuff with the computers on these for some time. And he seems to know his stuff. It's a shame he's gone so unresponsive (when the relays were coming out he posted a bit, not much since then). Seems to be a theme. My guess is since it's a side business he doesn't really have the time to answer all the emails he gets?

And since he rebuilds YOUR DME, "OUT OF STOCK" tells me he's have issues with suppliers again (for parts). I remember some of the delays with the relay were due to suppliers.

In talking with him about the 944Spec legal DME, he mentioned that he was halting production temporarily while he does a major overhaul of his base DME technology. The only one he is currently producing are the ones for the 944Spec race class which have the 88 NA tune permanently installed on the board.

He didn't indicate when he would resume production.

I agree, it would be nice to know what's in the works, not only for current products, but also future updates to their products.

Focus 9 Technology has always been very informative on this forum regarding their products and even enlisting beta testers for feedback.

I'm looking forward to hearing something, anything is better than no news at all...

re: 2.7L motor DME

I asked him specifically about the 2.7DME as I have an '89 also. He said his regular 2.5L version will work fine, being identical to the '89. Just the chip is different.

I've been trying to buy one of the pump prime relays for awhile. No response at his web site. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

FWIW, I just bought one from his Web site. I ordered it on 6/22; it shipped on 6/25 and arrived a couple days later.
