944Fest 2017
I'll start the thread. I've been hearing rumors that it may be back on; for a return to Nelson Ledges.
A couple of notes to Travis (Rennbay) confirms the rumors may in fact have some truth to them.
I'll let him confirm or deny. Hint: keep Labor Day weekend open.

Nelson's has been completely re-paved and is nice!!! They did half of it 2 weeks ago and I drove on it then. After that weekend, the completed the second half. They have a Facebook page named GANAR driving experience where you can see upcoming events/etc. I hope that 944Fest comes back to Nelson's!

Bump. Any news on this? Nelson's Ledges website is poor in that their schedule doesn't show anything more than the current month. We are a little over 4 weeks out. Was hoping to find out something definitive , considering its rumored to be held on a holiday weekend that will be competing with other potential activities.

Just got off the phone with Travis.
The new track owner is asking for $8000/ day for the track. AND... only 6 cars on-track at any time. Do the math...
The Labor Day weekend is coming up quickly and he has been unable to put things into place to make that work.
There is still hope though. He is working with the local PCA contact to get a weekend later in the year - say, late October. Presumably, this will bring costs down and allow more cars on track. It might be wet and cool, but we're a hearty lot.

Thanks for the update Scott. And to you and Travis for all the work in trying to get the Fest back to Nelson's. Yeah, that math doesn't work. I'm guessing that $8k/day might be the going rate for a newly paved track but the 6-car limit is wacky.
Is PittRace (formally BeaveRun) in Pittsburgh a viable alternative? That facility has not only a great track but also a large paved area for autocross, so we could do either or both....and they have a Kart track/rentals. If track rental is the obstacle, this facility would allow some Autocross, camping etc. Just a thought.

NL has always been just the right amount of character and user-friendliness to the type of, ah hem, crowd expected from the 944Fest. I.e. fancy and expensive are right out.
It will remain to be seen how the new owner of the track will react to our "activities".

I have connections with the owners of Hartland Park in Topeka Kansas and could possibly see about a weekend in 2018. Is in the middle of the US so it would be an easier opportunity for people west of the Mississippi to attend.
