Question Carpet around Shifter

Anyone know where I can get the carpet that fits around the shifter for an '84 944 n/a, in black? Are the switch holes pre-cut in the carpet? I am planning to remove my sunroof and fader switches, and want to replace that piece of carpet with one without holes. All the online sites I checked only sell complete carpet kits.

Why not call or email some of the vendors that sell the kits and ask if you can just buy that part?

I was being lazy and looking for the easy way out, hoping a rennlister knew of a vendor that supplied individual pieces.

You can have the one I took out of my car, although it has the fader switch. I wonder if you can go to a carpet store and buy a remnant, make a template and cut it out yourself? The only issue would be the plastic pieces on the bottom that hold it to the shifter cover.

The kit I bought had one with NO holes in it at all, even for the shifter. Just a trianglular piece of carpet.

I think the only thing to worry about doing it with a piece from a carpet shop is the vinyl edging that is towards the ashtray. You wouldn't want it to start fraying. Perhaps the carpet place could "finish" that one edge, or just find a piece that has on side "finished".

I don't have the sunroof or fader switch in mine anymore, I think it looks much cleaner.

My plastic shifter plate did not "lock" or "snap" down correctly anymore, so I just drilled a hole on each corner and used some fancy hex head screws to fasten it down.

If I wasn't running around and in a hurry today, I'd shoot ya a pic.

I will vouch for James's. It looks pretty good and he is right about fraying. Depending on the carpet type you could burnish the ends of it. The fancy Hex heads look pretty good too. James should shoot some interior shots for those who have never seen a 944 with new carpet, etc.

Predtor: Thanks, I found it on 944 online for $24 without holes.
James: Did you move the sunroof switch somewhere else, which is what I want to do. Post a pic of your interior.

Deleted the sunroof switch. I manually raise/lower/remove the sunroof. Currently throught the gear box in the rear, but have bought the stuff to convert to full manual system.

Will try and get some pics up in the next day or so.

wow, I never realized my car was missing that. Personally I like it better without, but maybe that's just because I'm used to it.

I don't want to make my sunroof manual, I want to move the switch from in front of the shifter to in front of the ashtray by the mirror and rear wiper switches and alarm LED. I'm not sure how to do this.
