Then later it goes on describing the situation and how I overcame it (which was apologizing to a despised person becuase I did something wrong). I would really appreciate it if you sent me your essay, of course I wouldn't plagarize or copy (the prompts are probably different anyway) I just need ideas, BADLY.
If you don't mind you can either PM me it or e-mail it to mmmattc@alltel.net Thanks in advanced.

haha I knew I would get some Porsche driver response :P ohwell adds to my knowledge, and thanks so far to those who contributed, it helps a lot!
Looking at someone else's essay, written to a completely different set of instructions, is not going to help, it will just screw you up imo. As a part-time college professor, I can tell you that what they are looking for is original thought and being able to express those thoughts coherently.

Come up with your own ideas, write the essay, and get other people to read and critique it for you and make changes as required. The best tip I can give you is that the secret to good writing is re-writing.

How about Magnus the Robot Fighter.

Personally, I'd steer clear of any college that asked me to write an essay about super heros. Seems lame to me. But if I was dead set on going there I'd go another route and write about real life heros. Find someone who's not a known name, explain how they have struggled to overcome adversity - tell their story. But that's just me. I once had to write an essay on the novel Airport. Wound up comparing one of the characters exit from a taxi cab to the rebirth of a child from the womb. Got an A and an explanation saying the professor thought I was full of ****, but I did support my views well and she just couldn't find any fault with what I had done.

Batman. And be sure to stress that his only "super power" is a keen intellect and education. That'll kiss some good *** for you.

thanks all,
to clarify, the essay prompt is not about super heroes
Here is the prompt:

In his autobiography Long Walk to Freedom, Nelson Mandela reflects upon his life and commitment to the anti-apartheid movement. He writes: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” Give a personal example of how courage has played a role in your life.

In the beginning of the essay I say things on the line of:
I would rather leap from tree to tree like Tarzan. I would rather fight blah blah blah. Any of these would have been better than facing my greatest fear, confrontation.
Then a short story how I triumphed over my fear and the end.

Thanks again everyone!

EDIT: Thx Peckster for the advice

I knew a lot of them in my childhood, but not so much now. That's why I'm thinking of writing those I knew
Good input. That college essay must really be shaping up by now…

Paul Volcker, the 12th Chair of the Federal Reserve between 1979 and 1987. Fought staggering inflation and brought the United States economy out of the one of the worst inflationary times in U.S. history. In the process, Volcker became one of the most hated people in America and stuck to his beliefs regardless of what others said or thought of him.

Though Volcker took the position over a decade before I was born, learning about stagflation and Volker's actions in college really stuck with me. Something we should ask of all public servants and aspire to ourselves. Doing the right thing, popular or not.
Also, oddly relevant today.
