Default 944 Oil pressure gauge

Can the oil pressure gauge sender go faulty such that the gauge reads max all the time the engine is running. Oil pressure warning light works OK, its just the gauge.

the sender has two outputs so yes, one side can go bad.

Yes that is the usual failure mode.

Is one output 0/1 and the other Ω range?

On one of my old sensors, the gauge wire terminal came loose from the black insulator on the sensor case & spun until the wire broke off on the inside. The gauge potentiometer (10-184 ohms) is connected to the red wire in the view on the left. The warning light switch is connected to the black wire in the right side view. That switch is closed in the photo because there's no oil pressure keeping it open.

My oil gauge read 0 pressure when running but that was due to dirt/corrosion on the sensor terminal.

I have a similar issue but it pegs full even with the engine off. It was working then started jumping. I replaced the sensor and it worked at first till it hit half way then pegged. Either wiring is bad or the gauge is shorting.
