Default Rescued 968

So, I finally got my '87 928 S4 restored as my daily driver.
Time to get the junk yard find '92 968 underway.

Pics are of the car before any work was done. Believed to have had a TB fail.
Heads were sent out for total rebuild by previous owner prior to sale.

I replaced all timing components and dialed in a new variocam.
- Removed heads and verified rebuild
- New head gasket
- Front of engine service done.
- Built a new starter harness
- Rebuilt and flowed injectors
- Timing all dialed in.
- Belt covers installed.

Currently disassembled to
* Intake and Exhaust manifolds are off
* Starter off
* Fuel rail off
* Injectors out
*

Looking for advise or helpful tips on things to look out for or avoid during assembly.

Even a suggested plan of attack is appreciated.

I think I will work through the following order.
1. Test the starter at AutoZone
2. R&R power steering reservoir and hoses
3. Install exhaust manifold and connect exhaust.
4. Install starter and wiring harness.
5. Begin intake and fuel rail installation.

All advice is appreciated.

Thanks

John

Glad to see your trying to save this one! I don't have any advise, as I have no experience with the 968, but I'm interested in seeing your progress!

While you have the intake off it's a good time to replace vacuum lines, the heater control valve and rubber hose and check the wiring/connectors for your speed and reference sensors.

Roger that.
The ones on my 928 were toast. But they were accessible with intake on.
Good advice.
Thanks

Looking good. You know, there is a dedicated 968 area on this board where you may be able to find more info. Good luck and nice job.

Looks like this car is in capable hands!

You're in MD, too!

How did you find this car? Just happened to come across it while looking for parts for another car?

I really enjoy reading threads like this. The stories behind these kinds of cars are fascinating to me.
