Racers, who runs square? Poll
I am considering 245's front and rear.(SP-2) 15" wheels btw. I have been told many are running 225's up front and 245 rear. I like the thought of rotating front to rear but are you happy with the balance? Thanks, Kevin

I wouldn't really call myself a racer, but I do run a square setup of 265's or 255's and I track my car every so often. I really like the balance. Enough grip on the rear to not loose traction on boost, and enough traction on the front to not under steer or lock up the brakes as easily.
I'd say go for the square setup, and then tune the balance to how you like it with suspension and sway bars.

If it's for a street car , find some 16 inch wheels and perhaps use Bridgestone RE's or Dunlop Direzzas , there is a lot more choice in 16 inch tires than 15 ...

How about rotate then ... lol
Kevin , a lot of guys run R7, 225/45 /15 square setups although i would say most of the SP2 guys i race with prefer the 245/45/15 square setup as that's the max tire size PCA allows for SP2 without weight penalties.
At one time , guys were running 275/35/15 rears on welded 9 inch rims and 245/40/15 's in the front, i think that's illegal now ...

I'm going to be running 245-45-16 on my yellow race car. I'm moving into the new ST4 class and I'd be too heavy with the penalty, so I'm going to run Hankook z214 on 16X9 clubsport wheels. The chumpcar will stay on 16X8 sewer lids with RE-11 245-45-16.

Good luck trying to get Hankooks ... we tried from Tire Rack last season and got the run around for three months ... finally cancelled the order just before the season started !
They were on the boat ... they got lost ... they didn't ship our size , it just didn't work out !
Surprised they didn't say they were hijacked in Somalia ... lol

I had a set of early off set turbo phones, 8" x 16 and have 245 x4 and love them, I am running the BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE-11 tires and love them, best tire I can get for hard street driving I can find and fit. No 15"

We run 225 45 15 on 16x7 phone dials, square setup. We like to rotate front to rear and side to side depending on the course as some courses are really hard on one side of the car vs the other.
If we switch, we may move up to 17x8 and go to 245 square.

We always ran square setup on our endurance 944...just made everything easier and handling was good. Get the most rubber on the ground as you can, especially up front. I run 275 square on my turbo.

Im forced into a 225 square setup that SP1 dictates. I did run 205 wide tires for 3 events when the tire vendor grabbed the wrong tires. The car seemed to dance a little more with the narrower tire.
