Baby on the way, need a value check on my 87 944s
As much as i hate to write this post, it looks like the time has come to part with the porsche. that being said I wanted to get some opinions on what to ask/expect for my car. Needs a little love but after seeing the cost of daycare i cant afford a 3rd fun car without having my future son be raised by the dogs while i'm at work.
1987 944S
~90k miles
Nile green metallic on beige interior
5 speed
low option with factory sunroof delete
Records from the day it was bought new including a new clutch at 88k 1.5 years ago.
ran fine up until fall when one of the radiator fittings gave out and it started leaking coolant.
Cam pads done last year as well as new plugs, oil change and distributor cap/rotor.
previous owner converted to R134 A/C
Front valence is chewed up PO mcgivered it with Black tape
dash cracked but i have a spare dash that is ready to be recovered.
Heres the only 2 pictures i had handy at work.
Thanks in advance for any info!

That's a beautiful car you have. I can't tell you what to do but if it was me I would store it rather than sell it. It's difficult to replace what you once had and after the wife spends the proceeds for you, your done. Besides, it's looking like the values are going to rise.
And congratulations!

The S cars don't seem to be valued much. I have an S myself. I'd say in the $5000 range because of the sunroof delete and the interesting color.
If you find that the radiator is leaking and want to swap it out I have a good one sitting here.

Congrats and welcome to the no sleep club... Don't sell your car. I can tell you from experience you are not going to be able to afford anything for a long time and you are going to miss that car. You need to be buying more car stuff rather than selling the stuff you already have!

Yeah, I'm with the others here recommending you keep it too. You'll regret more selling it than you will regret pissing off the wife.
Register it historic to save on yearly licensing and get part-time driver insurance from Hagerty or other to reduce your insurance.
Kids are expensive, but they don't get any cheaper to support until you're dead.

That's a nice car and you have everything to make it a perfect example. It's probably worth $6k but you may have to sell it for $5k or slightly less if you are not willing to wait for the right buyer to come along. That's the sort of car that will easily fetch $8k in 5 years time so keep it if you can. If you look at it from an investment point of view, $5k today + almost 10% annual interest for 5 years is what you are giving away. There is nowhere you can get 10% interest on your money these days, good argument to make to the wifey.

I found it quite humorous that these two threads were so close together.

That green is sweet, and extremely rare. Some people love the sunroof delete. I think you would get top-dollar, but to a very small pool of buyers. Bring a Trailer comes to mind.
To whom it may concern, the 944 has a better interior than a 997 Turbo. I'd fix it and keep it. Can't cost much to insure...
