Default Looking for 944 Questions about maintenance

Hello, i am a blast from the past. I had to sell my 944 12 years ago and want to buy another one in the next two years. I have found some locally and was wondering how ontop of preventative maintenance i need to be. For example, i found one that has really been taken care of as far as i can tell. Low mileage. Only 7K on it in the last ten years or so i am told. Previous owner said the waterpump was replaced 3 times, most recently 12 years ago. Also i think the timing belt was like 6 years ago. Seller says they are fine since the car really has not been driven but i was under the impression that these need to be changed more frequently. I think the motor mounts were in the last 6 years.

If the water pump isn't leaking (yet), it's probably fine. But change the belts. All rubber dries out with age (that's why the water pump seal will eventually start leaking) and why old belts have been known to snap.

While you're at it, make sure you change the tires, too. Remember what happened to Paul Walker?

Over 3 years - change the belt, regardless of mileage.
