Question Who has played Colin Mcrae Rally 2.0 or F1 2002?

I just bought these games on the sale rack and thought I'd ask such driving enthusiasts as those on this board. I hear they are good so as a sale item they should be a good buy.....

F1 2002 is better and more realistic than GT4 will be. So

I haven't played Colin McRae RAlly, but it's supposed to be great. If you try it and like it, look around for Mobil 1 RAlly Championship, or something like that. It's a fantastic rally game, and pretty realistic.

f1 2002 is great, it's very, very realistic. There's also a ton of mods you can download for it too. My only complaint is how long it can take to do just one race in the season. It takes MANY laps to learn the track good enough to race it. But then again, that's realistic, right?

i think gt4 will be the best. i've played colin mcrae and its pretty cool. its realistic to an extent, but that was on ps2. it felt kinda like you were always driving on butter, as opposed to the rally gran turismo courses. but i've never played f1, i'll have to check that out.

colin mcrae 2.0 is REALLY old. i played it about 4 years ago, and enjoyed it. i reloaded it onto my PC a few weeks ago when i had a rally jones going, and just couldn't believe how bad the graphics look (comparatively). It was a fun game, but even NFS:PU kicks it's *** in graphics . . . .

F1 2002 is one of the best purchases i've ever made in PC games. there are a BUNCH of free mods available on the internet for that game that are TONS of fun. GTR2002 is one of the best. Also, make sure you download the upgraded F1 cars from emac. i think they're at www.emacf1.com, let me go check real quick
<opening another browser window>
oops, it's moved. the emac/ralph hummerich car sets are now at

http://www.sportplanet.com/emac/

let me see if I can find the GTR2002 page, 'cause that keeps moving around, too . . .
well, it's not the official site (seems to be gone now) but you can download gtr from
http://www.simracingworld.com/games/114/

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! it's a total conversion- it turns f1 2002 into a sports car racing sim. diablos, ferrari 360's, 550's, vipers, 996gt3's, gt2's, lister storms, etc, etc, etc.

there are lots of other mods for that game, and most of them can be found at simracingworld.com. Have fun!

Since I've bought the steering wheel for the PC, I've been digging the driving games. Of course, NFS:PU rules (great force feedback) while NFS:HS2 is just OK.

I've heard good things about Collin Mcrae and F1 2002.

elvisizer,
Thanks for the info. I will definately dig into it this weekend.

I'm disappointed with NFS:HS2. It doesn't support the wheel I just bought; the Force Feedback is weak (only feel during crashes) and there is a significant lag between input and reaction on screen. PU works great with oustanding Force Feedback.

I have CM 1.0 and 2.0 and have played both a lot - with FF wheel and pedals. As a rallyist - the ability to left foot brake and "Swedish flick" the car is amazing - very "real world".

The graphics in 2.0 were amazing then - but probablly eclipsed by any number of comtempory games. The other problem I had was the corner severity rating was INVERSE to the way I do pace notes - so I was pretty confused during the game and stopped playing for fear of making a mistake on the REAL stage after being conditioned by the game!

But a great game with lots of realism and great car physics.

What wheels/pedals do you guys recommend for the PC, I haven't played games on the pc for a while, but I keep hearing about f1 2002 so I am going to give it a try (hell it's only 9.99 at compusa). Are there any dual compatible wheels for pc/ps2?

McRaye is simply amazing. It beats the tar out of GT3's rally mode. VERY realistic, almost TOO realistic sometimes. This is one of those games that I REALLY wish I had a wheel to go with it.

I've never played GT3's rally mode, but if it's anything like GT2's then it's very unrealistic.
