Default how to disable 968 factory alarm

Does anyone know how to disable the 968 factory alarm. It is different than the earlier 944 alarms. The alarm part # is 928.618.260.00 or 03 and is also used in 928s and in 911s from 1991-1998.
thanks

Dave

What problem are you experiencing with your 968 alarm?

The alarm was going off at random with the car locked, so I disconnected the horn. Now it goes off on occasion. Seems like if I unlock only the drivers side door, it may go off, then alarm turns off when passenger side door is unlocked. Also seems like it only arms itself when the passenger side door is locked. I don't think my central locking is working like it used to. The 968 is a track only/racecar only now so the alarm is just a nuisance. I have searched a lot, much is written about disabling alarms in earlier 944s but not much about 1991 and later. When I researched the alarm, it turns out the same part number 928.618.260.00 or 03 is common to 911s from 1991-1998, but I also can't find much re the 911s and disabling the alarm either.

Don't follow Clark's procedure with a 928 numbered unit. Read this, https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...989-951-a.html

From other post to Dave968M3:

What is the part number on your Alarm module?
Either of these 911.637.104.02, 911.637.104.00 means your jumpers above are OK.

But, if the module begins with "928", following the procedure above (same as Clark's Garage) will most likely melt the insulation on a couple of wires.

Try:

CREDIT AND THANKS TO DOCWYTE!

Hopefully that helps!

I've had my 968's alarm go off randomly, once it was a bad switch at the hood latch (disconnected it), and next it was new passenger side hatch strut (which was pushing the hatch backward and separating it) which wasn't breaking contact on that little finger that touches the rod. So I disconnected the little wire going into the C-pillar.

Basically, if the alarm goes off on its own, you have a sensor somewhere which is triggering it. Since it's a race car and you don't care, just start disconnecting sensors.

FRporscheman,

Can you tell me exactly where the 968 alarm sensors are in the rear hatch (and elsewhere)? I have adjusted the interlocks to the hood latch but something is causing the alarm to go off when I unlock my door. This just started happening after I replaced the struts. The new struts put way too much stress on the hatch and I removed them but the alarm is somehow messed up. Any help here will be most appreciated.

I believe there is a connector in the bottom of both doors for the micro switch at the key tumbler. with the alarm off or disarmed, unplug both sides. the console switch for the door lock might arm it so check that but , in my mind, the alarm will be off when you lock the car manually.

Thank you for your reply, thomasmryan

I just unplugged the driver side (I didn't do the passenger side) and the alarm was still active. I did this before I saw your reply so i quit and put everything back together (about an hour ago). Do you think doing the passenger side is required, that is, both have to be disconnected to disable say the driver side interlock?

With the alarm off//disarmed, unplug both sides. See if the lock **** light flashes when you lock it manually.

That worked--needed to disconnect both plugs. I did find the problem. There is a short plastic connecting rod with a ball and socket fitting at one end and a pin/clip connector at the other end that connects the lock to the alarm switch. The ball in the rod was broken so the connection didn't engage properly when the door was locked/unlocked. I opted to just disconnect the unit rather than replace the rod. I never liked the alarm system to begin with--way overkill.

NOTE: Just about everything made out of plastic on this '94 968 has deteriorated and failed. I thought I had caught everything but there is always a surprise.

Thanks for your help both thomasmryan and
FRporscheman.

This is a normal occurrence for the 968--especially after prolonged days of rain.
BOSCH should be disbanded for the pain and suffering it has unleashed
on its customers dating back ~50 years--
it clearly is the automotive equivalent of a terrorist state.
Life in BOSCH.
