Very ingenious mod. The only downside I see is that if you get hit on that wheel and bend your a-arm, you'll have to make another one. I guess carry a spare for each side. How long does it take to fab one up?

I know you can get / adapt a longer rod Balljoint to cure this, I'm just wondering how your steel arms and the stock balljoint length does? and also do you think if a metal extension bar was made to fit inbetween the stub axle and wishbone balljoint it would be ok, as opposed to changing the ball joint to a longer version?

(I have fitted aluminium short wishbones with new Balljoints but they sit at an angle) it's street / Sprint use.

my control arms are fairly parallel to ground. However, we are not allowed to use any component that alters stock geometry of suspension in PCA club racing. But thanks for your input as others may find your suggestion helpful.

Good point! Haven't thought of that. Lol
I have about 3 hours for the set of arms including boxing them a few years back. They are pretty stout, so it would take so much energy to bend them that it would destroy the rest of the front end doing it.

What would you charge to do this for any interested parties?

Kevin,

Any mods to move the balljoint to be able to use steel arms on later offset cars. Seems that this should be simple, but I haven't seen anything.

I would want to try this mod out for a season to make sure its without defects or design errors before considering doing this for anyone. But thanks for asking.

I think to go late model steel arms one would have to go build a compete new arm, like Charlie Arms and such. I don't know if one can simply stretch the length of the OEM steel arm cleanly and structurally sound. Might have to look into that though. How much longer is the offset???

Looks like 30mm longer. I have a 84, with S2 suspension and brakes, and with steel arms. That makes my car early offset front, and late offset rear! No big deal, I have wheels in both offsets, but would like to go late offset on all 4 corners, but without the aluminum arms.
Thoughts?
