Definitely Y-something, I'm almost 100% positive that they're yoko's. If the tire was laying on it's side, the top row would be a bunch of a's slanted to the right A, and the next row would be to the left, then right, etc. There were about 5 or 6 rows IIRC.

A-shaped??? Sould like Yoko Intermediates from a while. In that case, they are very old. A very "cost effective" tire at the time IIRC. No experience with them though.
