Default big reds / heat shield

Hello all, Those of you with big reds on your 44's what did you do about the heat shield? Looks like it protects the b-joints,tie rod end, and some wiring from break heat/ friction. Is there one that fits around the rotor for our cars, do we really need it?...

Would appreciate info on the Big Red calipers on a 944. I have a lowly 85 n/a, but there are plans in the offing.
