Default Anybody got Recaro SRD's?

How do you like them? How well do they compare, comfortwise to the factory seats?

SRD were popular and comfortable but were for some reason discontinued, check out the new speed seat, its pretty much the same (slightly narrower and taller) and we are selling it for $488 each.

"The RECARO speed combines sporting design and excellent lateral hold at an introductory price. For drivers with sporting ambitions who still insist on comfort. The RECARO speed is the follow-up model of the former RECARO SRD."

Are they still around 27 lbs? How do they compare to the factory seats in terms of support? I am still recovering from a broken neck and back surgery due to a car accident, and haven't found anything that comes close to the factory seats. I just hate the weight of the seats and mine are torn up and need to be reupholstered or replaced.

Have you considered the Sparco Torino? Similar style, price, weight etc.

I don't own them but i have sat in them, as well as ridden in 944's equipped with them around tracks before.... they are simply fantastic... if it was up to me, I would have SRD's in my car in a heartbeat if i had the $$$...

Which Recaro did Porsche use on the euro Club Sport, the backs were often painted body color?

I belive that those were SPD's. At least in the 968CS.

I think the CS had seat that was (width wise) somewhere between the current SPG and Pole Position. These two currently have a similar shape, but the SPG is narrower than the PP. I don't know that the CS seat was available off the shelf. In fact, I've never actually seen one, and have no idea what the model #/name was. My mechanic usually has one at the shop, so the next time I'm there I'll see if the car still has stock seats. (I'm guessing not, though).

Thanks, Anders and Clem. I seem to remember from an article in 911 Porsche World that one of the SRD/SPG series seats was the model, albeit with Porsche cloth upholstery and the painted back. Although I've got nice seats, those would look good in my cab with the top down . . .

I have SRD's and my only comment, other than the above (comfort, etc - I agree with) is that there is a problem with harnesses. The SRD is a wide seat, and it is difficult to route the lower side harnesses in a 944. The real issue is the side that is close to the center of the car. I need to spend more time trying to resolve my issue, but a harness specialist took a look and said that the seats really shouldn't go in a 944.

I have SRD's in my 86 951. I love them, they are very comfortable and supportive. With the brackets I have they sit up a bit high and did restrict the room between my legs and the steering wheel. I used a small diameter wheel and a spacer to move the wheel closer to the driver to solve the problem. Space is tight beside the seats as well. If I had to adjust the seat to suit different drivers it could be a problem as the seat belt anchor interferes.
