That looks like a disaster.

Run, don't walk, away. (Unless you're looking for a poser car.)

If Mad Max's Pursuit Special was a 944...
Just needs a blower sticking out of the hood.

Whats up with you guys? what did you possibly see that's bad? that scoop on the roof?
I've seen that done to various cars to keep the dust out of the cabin by creating a positive pressure.

Lol - the roof scoop isn't my thing... But, the things that I see that indicate it's not a serious race car:

-ride height too high
-battery hold down is sketchy
-has HVAC stuff
-has charcoal canister and emissions stuff
-turbo cooling pump held on with a ziptie
-leaves are stuck in the in the corners of the engine bay
-has a bolt-in cage
-has the full dash (although it's nice with no cracks!)
-I'm sure the steering lock is still enabled
-seat belt straps aren't fastened around the roll bar properly
-suspension specs are a joke - koni shocks in the front with 800lb springs? (that's not a good match)

This is a poser car to drive on the street and look racy. You'd be risking your life in that cage on the track... and, with the suspension setup, I guarantee it'll be no fun to drive.

I really liked that professionally hand drawn gear shift pattern on duct tape.

It could be much worse though.. It would look pretty good without the hood vents and roof addition.

For what it's worth , CHAG ... Charles Hammer Auto Group are a fairly respected outfit in Montreal,he races a VW Golf with a V8 in GT2 and has a large shop with a dyno.Friend of mine brought his "ex" Trans Am car there for some dyno tuning and Jordi was quite knowledgeable.

I don't personally use their services , but i guess they're selling/getting rid of a somewhat Frakenthing customer car ...
Have to agree with Van , i wouldn't consider racing a car with a bolt in cage, probably a fun DE car though, once all the safety issues are addressed correctly !

Van, "-I'm sure the steering lock is still enabled"

Curious what you mean by that / what are the benefits of removing?

Most race organizations (PCA, SCCA, etc.) require that the steering lock be disabled so it can't accidentally engage while you're on track. (e.g you accidentally bump the key off or need to turn it off and back on to reset the ECU...)

On this car, the dash and steering column looks so intact, I doubt it's been removed.

I'm not trying to knock the car or the shop that did the work - I'm just trying to call it for what it is: a racy looking car for the street. Personally, I like my race cars racy and my street cars streety!

I have no affiliation obviously, but for 10k it seems great value.
I mean, 968 fresh box, wheels and tires, decent body work, seats, good body and decent motor..

Might you have a suggestion for disabling the late model 944?

It is a pretty loose definition of the term race car. A race car is built to compete in a particular class or series. This is a gutted car with a bolt in cage and parts thrown at it.

The easy thing to do is to take off the whole ignition switch/lock assembly. It's held on with 2 special "beak-away" bolts that have no heads... I be able to either weld on a regular bolt to the head so I can use a wrench, or cut a slit in it with a die grinder so I can unscrew it with a large flat head.

Most people discard the lock and make an ignition toggle switch and a momentary push-button for the starter motor.

I have, once the ignition lock is off the car, used a die grinder to cut the hardened steel lug off so it can be put back on - and now there's nothing to lock onto the steering column.
