Default Recovering seats

I have quite a few of the power seats ,reg and sport ,w and w/o script. They all need some attention ,but have never been able to find anyone who does this at a resonable cost ,shy of shipping them overseas. Does any one know a reputable outfit to do these. It would be ashame just to chuck them.

cheapest I've found around me was Don's auto uphollstery in Memphis, but it was $300/ seat. That explains my Corbeau Targa RS seats I have now!

George,
I got a quote of $1000 to reupholster the two buckets and rear bench in the firebird. I ended up buying the upholstery for all four and the foam for the fronts for about $425. i when i had it all in front of me i started to get scared. i called up a few places and got the same $400-450 labor.

i did it myself over labor day weekend. it took me close to a day a seat, but that included a learning curve. i had to take a metal hangar and hog ring it to the springs because the design (for lack of a better term) where the crease is on the camaro donor was different than the firebird. i then had to hog ring from the seam of the upholstery through the foam on to the hangar. my hands were very sore when it was all done.

when i bought my 12 way seats for the 944 i would have been willing to reupholster the seats in order to get the lumbar support. i bet some guys on the board would do the same to get sport seats.

I have a 1978 924 with vinyl seats with cloth centers. At one point in its past it had been reupholstered already. I bought a fabric matched black cordoruy and when I mentioned to my mother what the upholstry place was going to charge, she offered to do it for free. It took a few hours to dissassemble the seats and a belive she spent around 3 hours taking apart and resewing the cloth centers. It looks great (much better then the ripped and faded fabric that was there before but not quite perfect. I would suggest trying to find some one with sewing background who you could get some help from, it was definatly a task that can be accomplished at home though.

Thx Tom , guys, for the imput , I just don't have the time to do them. There are just to many sets and I'm involved in other things right now. See Signature. Was hoping there was a nearby shop ,wanted to do them with embossed names on them as gifts.

This may or may not work, go to the local shop and tell them you have many to do. quantity should get you a lower price. Especially durring there slower times.. Most body shops get a bit cheaper in the holidays, I would assume the interior shops would do the same especially with a lot to do.. Just a thought

You could always just get the kits and do them yourself. We currently stock the black high quality vinyl but can have other colors made , in vinyl upon request.
