Default Re-use Exhaust Seal Rings & How deep: Rear Main Seal?

Gearing up for the clutch job and have a couple of questions.

The circular crush rings for the wastegate, crossover pipe, etc. are EXPENSIVE and about $15 a pop. Can they be re-used?

And how deep does the Rear Main Seal have to go in? Flush with the surface of the engine block or as deep as it will go?

Thanks!
Simpson

I managed to get my exhaust off in one piece and only replaced one seal.
the rear main seal should go in flush to the block surface.

i was reading the book and it says to drive lubed seal till it stops at oil seal stop with tool # 9126

is the seal the same depth as the groove?
also when doing the clutch be sure not to re-use pre torqued bolts, use new ones. i broke two of the old ones when i reused and torqued it ( serves me right for being cheap)
also get the clutch alighment tool it helps
did u also get a new pilot bearing? might as well .
while ur under there might as well shim the wg

I wondered the same thing when I did my rebuild. I asked a very knowledgeable tech. here and he said he very seldom replaces them and has to have a problem.

If they look good I would save the coin. I did .

i say change it while ur down there.
imade a mistake on not doin' mine when i did the clutch and it developed aslight leak, usually if i maintain the oil level at above 1/2.
i just maintain it at 1/2 righ now and no leaks nor problems.

The sealing rings are crush rings and therefore should be replaced, especially in a 951.

Good luck.
