Default Found a 944 locally...what should I ask about?

Hey guys,

Well, I told myself I would wait until I got closer to my license to get a 944, but I found a real nice one that is exactly what I'm looking for, and it's real close to me. Don't really know anything about the car yet, doubt I'll end up with it, but if it's a real good deal I might try and get it now. It's an 86, guards, and the exterior looks to be in good condition. Didn't get a real good look at the interior, but from what I saw that was pretty good too. The guy has it listed for $3000 obo, so I think I'll give him a call. Anyway, I'm not quite sure what to ask about when I call, and was hoping for some ideas. Obviously, I'll want to find out about the major stuff, like engine condition and mileage, etc...but other than that I'm not real sure. I'd love it if you guys could give me some things to ask and check to make sure that there would prevent big problems down the road. Any ideas? All help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Dan

Emphasis on Timing belts...it's an expensive fix if ya don't do it yourself.

clutch too.

If you get serious about buying the car, absolutely take it to someone who knows 944's, not just Porsche, and get a Pre-Purchase Inspection.

maybe ask about what options it has:
LSD
Koni Yellows
Sport seats
Leather
Etc.
Cars w/ koni's and lsd in my experience are much nicer
