Bay Area Meet Recap. Not for 56k!
Well, I had a blast! Drove down a lot of good twisty roads then had lunch in Santa Cruz. Here are some pics (sorry for the huge size, can't find my adobe photoshop cd)
Me following Matt on the way to 76:
Gene's beautiful 86 951:
Waiting at the 76 before the drive up the mountain:
Leonel's (sp?) white N/A.
Bad pic of Bill's 951.
Rest stop at Alice's.
Driving through the mountains:
Gene, Matt, Marco and I took a couple pics in my neighborhood.
Now everyone else can post their pictures too!

Thanks for posting the pics Dmitry. It was great meeting all the other 944 drivers. I am afraid the "spirited" drive back from Santa Cruz knocked my power steering rack out of comission as I only have assist when turning left now. . Looks like it might be time to do some of the suspension mods I have been thinking about. Time to dream about those Charlie arms!

Matt took a lot of pics, and some short video. He said the video was bad, but the pics he'll be hosint soon. Gene, sucks about the power steering rack, but if you need help, call me over and i'll be glad to give an extra hand. Yeah, the spirited driving was a lot of fun. Especially the time that Bill hit 160.

Yeah it was a lot of fun. We had 4 Turbos (including a Turbo S), and 4 NA's (including an S2). Here are some pictures I took and 2 short video clips. You can click on the thumbnails to get larger images.
diskzero's '86 951 engine, looks amazingly clean in real life:
From left to right: my S2, diskzero's 951, cas951's 951 S, oi-punx's 951, 1988Porsche944's 944:
My '90 S2:
diskzero's '86 Turbo:
cas951's '88 Turbo s:
oi-punx's engine, also clean enough to eat off of:
Leonel's '87 944 NA interior:
Leonel's wheels:
And his spotless exterior:

And the engine:
I'm pretty sure this is diskzero's interior:
Here we are on the road. oi-punx leading the way, followed by cas951, 1988Porsche944, MacWolffe, Leonel & Deni:
It took approximately 3 hours to get this picture all setup, but just look how well it came out!
Lots of noses:
And tails:
My S2, and a some motorcycles:

Another action picture:
Now we're driving south along the California coast:
We stopped at a turnout by a beach to recollect after getting all mixed up in the traffic:
I think this is my favorite photo of the day:
MacWolffe's 944, cas951's Turbo S, and Bill's Turbo over in the background:
Cars belonging to (front to back) Leonel, 1988Porsche, and diskzero:
This little stretch was like driving through a sandstorm almost. Dust city:
Here's the whole gang, minus MacWolffe and Bill's daughter:
We made it back home without even crashing once:
Now for the grand finale, a crappy panorama I just made and 2 very short video clips from inside my S2!
low res panorama (771 K)
high res panorama (1.98 MB)
clip recorded by yours truly (2.25 MB)
clip recorded by 1988Porsche944 (2.89 MB)
You gotta open the video files with Quicktime, because they won't work in Windows Media Player.

Wow, that was fun and the day couldn't have been nicer. It was great to meet some new people and see some familiar faces among the crowd as well. Matt/Dimitry thanks for posting the pics. They came out very nice.
Gene, sorry to hear about your power steering rack. Hopefully you will get it fixed soon. If you require the help of a second person let me know. I had a nice coolant leak waiting for me when I got home and early diagnosis is the gasket on the waterpump.
If the pizza run is still happening the day after thanksgiving I hope to see you all there.
Cheers!

Hey All, It was great seeing and meeting everyone. I had a blast. Specially passing the cars that was between our cars. It's been awhile since I drove the car hard. There is one bad news to this trip. When we left the beach site I thought I smelled coolant when I got into the car. I thought it was my car but I didn't see any puddles under my car. I just spoke to Ben and he said he has a bad coolant leak. It might be from his water pump. He'll let me know what he finds. Here's some pics that I took. i'll try not to duplicate what's already posted.
Drivers with their car.
Cars lined up and ready for Matt's "Inspection"

What a scene. it's almost the end of october and it was 90 deg. Weather was great till we hit traffic in Santa Cruz. Then it was too hot.

Bill,
Remember the old man with the Buick that wouldn't get out of the way? I ran into him again on highway17 when i was going home. This time he was blocking the middle lane.
Gene, Sorry to hear about the steering rack. If you want to i'll be glad to help. Only problem is I'm only available on Saturdays.
Ben, fill us in on whaty ou find out about your leak. We'll see when we can work on it.
Well, now I have to do my "Honey Do List".
After I wash my car of course.....
