Default Using Mityvac to fill cooling system

How important is it that the system is totally empty of coolant?

It seems that whenever I drain it the standard way (removing lower radiator hose and unscrewing the plug on the radiator)...there is still some coolant left in the system...is that a big deal? Will it ruin the seals on the Mityvac?

TIA,

Adrial...hoping to get ALL the air out of the cooling system.

I believe that there is a coolant drain plug on the passenger side of the engine block. If you have a haynes manual, I believe that they mention it.
