I used permatex ultra blackon the OD of the seal and pressed it in till it bottomed out, so a little past flush. I used the old seal as a driver and just tapped in circles with a hammer lightly around it till it was all the way in, but used care to make sure it went in straight. I also had put the seal in the freezer for a week prior to installing. It was a piece of cake on the stand and no leaks so far after ~1000 miles.
