The bottom sensor is used for an engine diagnostic system the dealer uses. It doesn't plug into anything. The upper sensor detects both reference-mark (TDC) and engine speed.

The S and S2 use only a single sensor to detect TDC and speed. The old system had two sensors, one for reference, this used a pin in the flywheel to detect TDC. The other sensor detects speed using the teeth on the flywheel.

Good luck installing!

Yep, looks familiar. I just did this on my '88 8-valve Euro version.

Read all about it here: http://home.earthlink.net/~bryangunn/

You will have to:

1. Make a small notch in the engine bay sheet metal where the duct to the airbox passes through to the nose area

2. Remove the stiffening bracket inside the nose panel if you are going to re-use your original nose panel.

And you have the S2 throttle cable, right?

Bryan, that is like the best write-up ever!
When faced with no option, old waterpump suddenly started to look OK.
