This question is regarding Ice Shark's alternator to starter cable that requires two wires to be snaked through the woven casing (one of which goes to the "exciter"). What is (and where is it) the "exciter". It's all so black back there I can't see anything. Gotta get a white car next time.
Thanks Much, Gang!

Here's how it is on my 86 951:
By the brake booster, there's a white connector with two wires coming out of it: 1 - blue and 1 - red (thicker than blue one).
The blue wire goes to the alternator and the red one goes to the starter's solenoid. If you mix the two up, your car won't start. Ask me how I know.

Simpson is right, he explained it exactly.
Our alts need the exicter wire to get them producing almost full power right off the bat. If you ended up ruining that wire in the dark, no problem, just run a new one. I can send you down some new wire for that if you want.

Simpson, Dan... Thanks!
I should be able to find it now. As I said, with the black paint, no light seems to be able to escape the black hole in there.
Thanks again!!!
