I've got 15" genuine Fuchs wheels right now and I really love them, but tire selection is pretty limited. Larger diameter early offset Porsche wheels are hard to find and typically very expensive. Wondering if it would be worth it to just go with a cheap new set of replicas instead.

Opinions welcome.
Check out Phil's Tire Service for 944 wheels, not sure if cast or forged but they are always very helpful

8x16: 17.42lbs

If I do end up pulling the trigger on these things, I'll be sure to weigh them myself to verify.

I've been scanning Craigslist and eBay for a while now. I'd love a set of 16" phone dials, but early offset ones don't come up very often and definitely cost a lot more than their 15" or late offset equivalents.
Hi. I know the post is a bit old, but I'm currently going down this path. You mentioned that the Maxilites weigh more than original fuchs, do you know the weight of the original 7,8 by 16 fuchs? Looking at this chart I found on another rennlist.com thread, https://members.rennlist.com/911pcars/WheelWts.html, it says the 7,8 x 16 are 18 and 19 lbs respectively. Also curious to hear what you went with and whether you are happy? Thanks!

Default Maxilite Wheel coating Failure

A bit of a warning:

I purchased a set of the RS finished wheels made by Maxilite in 2020 from a reputable Porsche parts seller. I had planned on running these wheels for a while until I can get my Fuchs restored. Well, I got busy and didn’t have the tires mounted until recently. The wheels look great. I am very pleased with the appearance as they really made a big difference compared to my old tired Fuchs.

I had the tires mounted locally and installed the wheels myself on the car. I followed Porsche specs for tightening the lugs and on both rear wheels when I tighten down one of the nuts the Paint cracked around the lug nut and separated from the wheel underneath. Now I don’t expect the seller to help with the paint failure on the rim since I’m well outside their return window. I have tried multiple time to contact Maxilite to try to get this resolved, and have not received a response. If you do buy some make sure you get them mounted immediately so that you have some recourse with the seller. I’ll try to attach pictures.

The black paint cracked and fell off in the 10 o’clock position

Full wheel picture

Front wheel with no issues

i think the fronts are 205 and tears are 225. With the car lowers it seems like it fills the wheel wells nicely.

I had a set of these on an old 911. Fit and finish was good, but they are 911SC offsets. Do they fit on a 944 in the rear?

I just got some in and when I get tires on them I can let you know, but I believe that it will fit a 10.3mm offset 16x8 in the rear. At least thats what I have.

Hi,
Mine are on an SC. The rears are

911-362-115-00-7OE Maxilite Fuchs Style Alloy Wheel 16 x 7-inch 23.3mm Offset, Satin Finish

I believe they only made Fuchs for 83-86 944. Even if the offset is correct the calipers may be larger on the 944? I found this on renn

So, for a newbie, my 87 924S was picked up yesterday in Calf. and is on its way to GA, so is there much difference between the wheel well clearance between the 924-944?
Dan
