Turn on the lights to the first click and see if you have current to both sides of fuses 13 and 14. These are the running light fuses.

Nothing.

In fact, with the ke y in the cyl, the only fuse with power is #7. All fuses in the auxilliary fuse panel have power, as far as I can tell. What are your thoughts SoCal?

Hey Ben-

I've been having the same problem with my '84 for the last month or so: hit the switch and 'occassionally' get all of the lights to work. More often than not, however, all I get are headlamps: no dash or running lights. Although I have yet to really look at the problem (the car goes into storage Saturday-VT...), I noticed that wiggling the wiring harness behind the fusebox will get the lights back every time. Far from a permanent fix, I know, but it get's me home every night.

Someone suggested I check for bare wire where the harness enters the cabin because the switch checked out fine and everything looks okay. I'd be interested to see what you find in this.

The parking/running lights come directly of of the battery -- don't go through the ignition switch like the head lights.

So some where at or between the fuse block and the switch or at the switch itself there is a broken connection.

As you seem to have other problems at the fuse block I would pull it down and take a hard look at the back side wiring.

First, let me say that Stephen Kaspar is the man. Also, thanks SoCal, and Hans for the guidance.

There were 2 problems that apparently occured simultaneously. The electrical portion of the ignition switch is in the process of failing, so it will be replaced today. The main problem was a burned out plug on the back of the fuse panel. Stephen traced all the wires back, and repaired the damage.

this board is awesome--and buy a bunch of stuff from Stephen's company (ImagineAuto).
