Default Why doesn't Audi produce a Coupe or 2 door car.....

I am curious why Audi doesn't produce a current 2 door coupe (besides the TT) this would be a worthy car possibly, not enough market share available? Opinions?

There are rumors that they are working on a S4 coupe, and they are also working on two big sports cars, the nuvolari, and the LeMans.

So they would have 4 coupes in the line up if they all get approval

I think I saw pictures of a artist concept or a prototype of a two door A4 looking thing a while back.

Anyway, what other coupe do they need than the TT?

I dunno the TT is great, but something more along the lines of a traditional sports coue ala Porsche, BWM etc. Plus TT isn't the most practical 2 door sports car.....

Well, maybe not for the U.S. market it doesn't, but over in Europe they've had the Audi A3 since the A4 came out. This is a 2-door coupe, and the sport "S3" version is a very nice car.

Personally, I like the S3 a lot, but the A3 is about as common over there as the Golf IIs and IIIs were in the '80s and '90s. Booorrring!

An S3 would be pretty unique in the U.S., though!

i dont know what engine the s3 comes with but i seen a picture of a really nice s3 with the v-6 biturbo of the s4 and it was awesome. i got the impression from the post that it was a swapped engine. nice car though cant wait for them to make it available in the states if they are even planning on it.

They produce the attached in Mexico and I've seen many in San Diego.

The A3 is really a hatch, so a three-door(?)- a coupe would TECHNICALLY not be a coupe, I don't think- no big deal though...

I've also always wanted them to come out w/a coupe- the TT is great though, but, it just has funny handlinig traits according to road tests- it wil never really hang w/'the S4 or anything from what I understand.

Also, I don't really like the new S4- I want the V6TT back- the interior isn't as nice either & they are louder & rougher from what I understand...

You should read the road test on the TT. It got the worst review I ever saw. Infact it was beat out by the new 2003 sct cobra mustang in every aspect. Also that huge recall if anyone remembers? needed that new front end suspenson aswell as a rear spoiler to stop the car from flipping hehehe. I also believe the TT is running the the beetle chasis.

Yeah, I've seen a few tests where the TT's have been dogged- I don't understand WHY they can't bring it together- I LOVE the way it looks, even though many say it looks sort of Beetle-ish, but it is beautiful- Cx isn't as good as one would think (.34 or .35), but STILL- it's just so BEAUTIFUL- IMO- certain cars get me like this- the original Lotus Elise, the 3rd Gen RX7 (although I don;t like it QUITE as much as I once did- would like to see the front end more like the newer Miata's- get rid of the pop-ups, etc...), 911's (Which ones? Which ones AREN'T beautiful...???), etc...
