sweanders,

Around here it seems the trolls get put out on their ears pretty promptly... - whether by the great JD in the sky or just general user pressure...

So, I think (hope) there's little worry of Rennlist losing its collective integrity. This site remains head and shoulders above most of the forums for car nuts out there, which is in general an ornery bunch. I think you are always going to have a certain percentage of BS artists in any group, especially among gearheads & wannabes.

Some of the crap I see on other forums amazes me. They all either seem on the Mustang/ricer end of the spectrum, with guys with poor English skills and juvenile attitudes, or to the other extreme, the Mercedes/Ferrari set with snobs and a LOT of poseurs/trolls. I've been involved since the Porschefans days and I think Rennlist seems to remain just about right, hopefully it will stay that way.

The 924/944 area is always going to be at risk, being the home of the entry-level Porsche owner and the related risks...Al

Hey Al, it sure is true that Rennlist is being run and kept in very good shape and we must remember that all is not up to the users.

Rennlist is a big part of Porsche ownership for me, and a very important one at that.

Thanks for all the replys and thanks for your input sweanders. Sorry i have been unable to get back quicker but it has been buissy weekend. I did a mistake of not telling everyone a little about my self before i started asking questions here and i apoligize about that. Here is a little bit of info. I am 23 and work in the automobile industry. Have had a passion for cars since my dad got me a pair of hotwheels in 89 and i still remember, its was a testarossa and i cant remember the model but it was a Porsche. Anyway i now spend all day around $30-40-70K cars. Nothing that lives up to the standards of a german or italian car but still nice production cars (GM). Im not rich nor am i poor. I work 6 days a week 10-12H/day and make a good annual income to support my hobby. Just recently had a son, he is 5 weeks now. Anyway, people might think why i got a 87 944 when i have should or maby could have got a high end 03-04 Porsche for $70+, well the answer is simple. The 87 car was 4000, i did not want to spend $70+ (thats a LOT of money) on a new car and this 944 just grabbed me when i saw it. Its just something about it. I thought i was in for some costly repairs but i was wrong, the car is in great condition. I also got this because i drive this a lot more then i would drive the 355. Please get back with me if you have any questions and i want to thank you people for answering my questions in my other posts. And sweanders, i promise you im far from being a "troll".

Antoniali, sorry if I came out a bit sour..

Sounds great, must be exciting to be a father at that age. I'm 24 and am in no way ready to have kids yet.. But I do have a godson that is 14 months that loves climbing around in my Porsches.. Especially the 928 with all the buttons to press!!

I bought my 1984 944N/A for the same reason as you, to keep the dream car (928GT in my case) as fresh as possible.

Where are you located, you could put that in your profile since people here on Rennlist are from all over the world you might find another 'lister in your neck of the woods..

back to the subject...

i think the reason the 944 is so much fun to drive is the fact that it is a really tight, rigid car. I have had a few cars such as a 90 supra turbo and some crx/prelude type stuff, and a bunch of muscle cars, and this is the first car ive had that really made me feel like i was driving a race car.

yes i agree,
the car just feels so solid. Its not like i have never driven a sports car but the whole reason why im so impressed with this car is the fact that its 16 years old! When i close the driver door its so solid, when i take a turn a little bit faster then i should it feels like the car is glued to the road, and once again, there are a lot of high end cars that does the same thing but this thing is 16 years old.....Thanks everyone for answering replying to my msg's. Its nice to find people that have a passion and appreciation for these cars.

That's a great idea to put that money towards your son NOW rather than later and you're gaining a terrific and special daily driver, congratulations on everything.
I drive an hour or two almost every day just for the sake of it, these cars just feel right.

Sounds like (what I assume to be) what all of us were like when we first purchased our 944's or first Porsche's. I sure as hell was (and still am) that excited about it. What a testament that a guy would rather drive a $4000 944 NA over a 1999 Ferrari 355. That says a lot about our wonderful cars huh? well, enjoy the car Antonioali! (BTW, I never thought you were a troll, I saw your other posts, with pictures too)
